About Me

Hi! My name is Kate, stylist and owner of Salon Space. I am a proud mom of 4 and a foodie that appreciates a great glass 0f wine. I love learning and trying new things except karaoke - I can't carry a tune to save my life but I admire people who can, I make up for it with my mean guacamole skills (yes I have a secret ingredient😜).

As a stylist I would say I don't just love what I do, I am over the top passionately in love with my career😍. Although I have been an educator for over a decade for other professional companies and now for my own cutting techniques, I believe we are all life long students.

Your salon experience with me...

What makes your experience with me unique is that we collaborate to to create a feeling. How you want to feel in your hair is specific to that moment in life. Where you are this month may be totally different next month and thats why every time you come in I start with "How are you feeling? or " What is your vision?" We'll make a quick vision board via google or Pinterest of what is speaking to you right now and we'll mesh that with lifestyle and future goal requirements.
I start from foundation up to solve problems so I dig deep and ask a lot of questions. My cutting style different from everyone else, I use my personalized head-mapping. I map out your specific proportions in bone structure and growth patterns and we combine that with our desired outcome to create your one of a kind perfect version of the haircut the fits you like a perfectly tailored, show stopping little black dress! I'm so excited to create yours!

The Story of Salon Space

Some fun facts about the beginning of Salon Space: Although I had been an educator and stylist for over a decade I knew absolutely nothing about business and started out with what resembled a Hippy Commune.

Our construction and opening was featured on A&E TV series Flip This House with CT Homes. The Episode name is "Paul's Bad Hair Day". Paul Esajian, JD Esajian, Jeremy Black and Than Merrill had all been clients of mine when they lived in CT and Paul was instrumental in pushing me to go to the next level and open a salon.

During the construction I met my future husband and father of our 4 children, Matt. I didn't know it at the time, we didn't actually date till 3 years later (feel free to ask me about it anytime your in the salon, I will happily spill that tea on that drama lol).
